Installation

Traces is an audio installation for small rooms, tight corridors, and inbetween spaces. Clusters of independent audio samplers continuously record and playback the ambient sound around them. Each sampler is manipulated by a light or proximity sensor dictating pitch or recording length. The ambient sound of a space – snippets of conversations, a laugh, street noise – are recorded, manipulated, and fed back into the other modules. A deconstructed delay of your presence in a space is created, and remains behind you, for the next person to experience and build upon.

Bio:
Reid Bingham creates audio visual installations utilizing hacked electronics. Collaborating with Colin Challender as All Over the Where, he has shown at the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Bent Festival, and galleries in New Jersey, Washington D.C., New York, and Brooklyn.
